09:30. Waiting for the Dilligafs to show up at Cape Horn. This will be a long, 12 hour,
420 mile ride. Probably the last warm, sunny weekend day we are going to see until
next July so we're making the most of it.
We were out to
Sunrise over the July 4th weekend.
Most of these images can be enlarged by clicking on them.

And the obligatory shot of the Dilligafs at the obligatory stop at the
McClellan viewpoint.
And a several dozen head herd of elk that we luckily didn't run into...
Julie taking a picture of me taking a picture of her taking a picture of me....
Julie says this is her favorite picture of me because for once I am smiling...
I think I look stupid... I'll try not to let that happen again.

The Plains of Abraham.
The Mount Saint Helens crater seen from Windy Ridge.
Mount Adams.
Note the clear, blue sky.... the girls were feeling good and the weather and visibility
was great so we figured extending our ride out to Rainier was the thing to do.
Unfortunately....Mount Rainier has it's own micro-climate and as soon as we got
close to the mountain, things got pretty socked in. Still... the visibility was
a LOT better than it was last year when we went to
Paradise.
Still... we almost always have a good time even if the weather doesn't cooperate.
Left Sunrise at almost 17:00... long ride back home. Opted to stop at Spiffys
for pie and coffee before doing that last 80 miles back to Portland. Yum!
Although the sky looked threatening and a storm was definitely on the way, the
ride home was dry and mostly not overly cold.
The next morning I went out to ride the bike and the rear tire was flat. Picked
up a nail somewhere along the way. Luckily, it didn't go flat in the parking
lot at Sunrise, which would have been B-A-D! The tire would still hold air for
a couple of hours so I'm figuring I ran over the nail along SR 12 somewhere.
The tire had 7829 miles on it and was getting close to the wear bars so a trip
to Latus and $300 later, the Harley has a nice, shiny new Dunlop 407 on it.
