Was out this way in
2023,
2020,
2015,
2014,
2014,
2013,
2012 and
2011.
There's pictures of previous trips to Lava Canyon
HERE,
HERE and
HERE
Tried to get out here on May 13, 2012 but the last 8 miles of the road was closed due to
snow. This is often the case in Spring. Got as far as
Marble Mountain.
The Lava Canyon Interpretive Center opened 5/7/14. That trip report is
HERE.
For planning purposes, the road from Marble Mountain to Lava Canyon is rarely open
before the second week in June.

The obligatory stop at Hamilton Landing
These images were taken with my Nikon D810 camera and Zeiss 50mm f/1.4
Planar T* manual focus lens.

The obligatory stop at McClellan Viewpoint

The roads on this side of the mountain just get worse every year. And
why wouldn't they? It's obvious that none of them have been repaired for
decades. Endless suppies of taxpayer money for insane "woke" policies,
the phoney "global warming" green new deal scam, support for the corrupt
Ukraine government, funding for China so they can develop a biological
weapon (covid) to unleash on the world's population... but somehow no
money to be spent for the benefit of Americans... you know, the people
who are paying for all this lunatic spending.
