We are out Catherine Creek way several times a year. This is at
Rowland Lake right at the old highway 8 cut-off. There's often good color
here.
The parking lot was unusually full considering that it was early Saturday
morning. The Skamania Sheriff was doing search and rescue training and
we kept running into "planted" evidence and cops on what it usually a
tranquil and mostly deserted trail.

These images were taken with my Nikon D810 and my Zeiss Planar T*
50mm f/1.4 lens.
Today wasn't the best lighting conditions, to say the least. It was
VERY hazy with an intense, blaring sun low in the early morning southern
sky. I did had a polarizer and a haze filter installed plus using an
extended lens hood. But as you can see, some of these images look very
washed out and there really wasn;t a lot I could do to prevent that.
Images like this one were shot directly into the sun (South)..
For fun I made the tree black and white....
Very harsh sun to the left (south) and a LOT of haze...
This was shot almost directly into the sun. Not the composition I
wanted but it's the best I could get under the circumstances.
