Vinson, Oregon is located in Umatilla County. Vinson is 1,980 feet above
sea level on SR 74.
These images were taken with my Nikon D810 and Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 Planar T*
manual focus lens.
This fellow is the granchild of the patriach who erected most of the
buildings in Vinson. Mr Doherty was very gracious and generous with his
time. He was born in Vinson in 1940 and has lived here his entire life.
We were interested to learn that this building was never actually a filling
station. When the elder Doherty built this home the idea of a garage that
looked like a gas station appealed to him. So he fitted it with various
items that he picked up along the way. There was once a hand-pumped
gasoline dispenser in the place of the current gas pump. But one of the
children took it away over fears of it being stolen.
